Feb 24, 2023 · Overwolf bought Curseforge from Twitch, so it’s a legit client. Some folks don’t like it because of the ads, or because they threatened to block access from other addon managers (I don’t know if they followed through on that), or because of the in-game overlays. Those are legitimate concerns but they don’t make the Overwolf client “malware” IMO.
Sep 11, 2023 · Overwolf is a bit of a painful resource hog but aside from that i'd recommend Aleca, seeing the plat prices for relic drops at a glance or which relics in your inventory are vaulted and whatnot is a lifesaver.

It works good. I get the overwolf dislike but the standalone does its job very well and is overall just easier to navigate than some of the alternatives.
Aug 4, 2022 · Overwolf claims to be a mod platform, but from its high network traffic, always-running functionality, and closed garden practices it is clear it is much more than that. Obviously asking for open-sourcing is impossible, but does anyone know every feature it has? or exactly what it is tracking and selling?
Oct 10, 2020 · Overwolf isn’t big enough or have an offering that would let them just purely be an addon company without having advertisements. As they have bought the platform they are now looking to clamp down on other addon updaters that capture information from curseforge and provide a direct download link - from a company PoV this makes sense.
Jun 11, 2023 · Maybe if I could set Windows to only launch overwolf *when* league is launched would work but its really a shame that the best apps are on Overwolf : (. I just realized this post is 4 months old but idc at this point.
